An appetite for destruction of the human mind

Boing Boing posted this story today from the Washington Post about a girl who didn't do her homework, and her mother put her out on the street with a "Will work for food" sign.

"EDMOND, Okla. -- Tasha Henderson got tired of her 14-year-old daughter's poor grades, her chronic lateness to class and her talking back to her teachers, so she decided to teach the girl a lesson.

She made Coretha stand at a busy Oklahoma City intersection Nov. 4 with a cardboard sign that read: "I don't do my homework and I act up in school, so my parents are preparing me for my future. Will work for food.'"

A thoughtful passerby called the police, and they forwarded the report to DHS, who said the matter would probably not take a top priority. Tasha says that her daughter's behavior has improved, and her attendance has been perfect since the incident. They've already taken away all of her sporting and extracurricular activities in order to stop this "bad behavior".

Basically, they've taken away everything she enjoys, and publicly humiliated her so that she'd be more primed to be subjected to brain washing of the American High School High Prison life.
