My Dad, Clyde Frederick Stauffer, would be 88 years old today if he were alive. Blowing kisses to you, Dad

The FL Great Pyrenees Club contacted me today about adopting Tessa

While you're there - if you can - please donate a couple bucks in memory of Cindy Lou Who? The Club does a lot of great stuff for abandoned and abused Pyrs.

Well, we're going to casino night with the Krewe du Ya Yas

I'm going to try and be sponsored to become a Ya Ya. We ran over to Alabama last night to an outlet mall to get dress clothes - which REALLY need to be tailored, but there's no time, so we're making the best of it.

I'm wearing a long dress with no sleeves and light sweater over the top - it was too long so I tacked it up at the shoulders - won't show. I can't wear heals or anything so I got some pretty sandals (which still hurt my bad foot!!!) Brian's jacket just needs tailored, but it'll due for now. Bri is getting a haircut right now.

We should be getting the keys to our new house this afternoon, and I have some more housework to finish before I start getting ready - so catch ya'll later!

Have a great weekend!

1. If you could live in any period in history other than now, when would it be? I know it says history - but - Some point in the future when society as a whole has become so advanced that it could allow people to be who they are without judgment and nobody ever had to feel like they had to hide anything about themselves.

2. What knowledge or skills do you think you'd have to learn to be able to fit in your chosen period of history? To let go of my anger.

3. If you could take just one thing from the modern world back with you, what would it be? My kids and husband.

4. What period in history would you hate to have lived in? Sometimes i'm shocked that i'm where I am now?

5. What thing from the past would you like to see make a comeback? Moving the human body.

OOO those bastards!

May 8th, 2009 (02:30 am)

I live in these apartments called "The Villas at jasmine Park" here in Pensacola. Villas my ass - they're dinky little apartments and the management doesn't enforce any of their rules until it suits them to do so, and guess what? they are suited to do so on me right now - i got 3 - yes 3 eviction notices today.

The rent is due on the first, they have a sign up that they issue a late fee on the the 5th, and they issue eviction notices on the 20th.

Last Friday the pool opened, and we went in on Saturday, and on Sunday my insulin pump site was hurting me, so I removed it, and puss ran out =- I also had the shits, and so did Collin and so did Kristen.

On Monday I contacted the Health department and filed a complaint - asked them to come check the pool for Bacteria.

Today (Thursday technically for me as i haven't been to bed yet) The health department called me back and said "We haven't opened that pool yet, so I don't know what you were doing swimming in it!"

I informed the health department lady that not only were other people swimming in that pool, but the gate was open, and the assistant apartment manager was swimming in it with us!

About an hour later we got 3 eviction notices - non payment of rent (see above where they issue those on the 20th of the month) for having bikes on our porch, and for not paying the dog deposit yet. None of which have they ever mentioned to us before and we see her all the freaking time.

The puss is gone out of my belly now, and the runs have gone away - the baby threw up last night several times but he is better now - so it's too late to go to the doctor and get any sort of evidence that we were exposed to bacteria by these people - when the pool wasn't supposed to be swam in.

I'm angry - not about the evictions - i want the hell out of here anyhow - I'm angry that they were intentionally negligent, and it made me very sick, and put my overall health in danger.

It angers me more that there isn't anything I could do about it. i'm not the suing type - I REALLY am not - I've been through things and in accidents and experienced stuff where everyone around has gone "so when you gonna sue?" and I just shrug - i guess I still believe in accidents. This was no accident though, and yes - I take it personal. If this pool had been up to date on it's inspe4ctions and Ok'd by the health department, then i wouldn't be angry - water systems get contaminated - it's an accident. You see?

We went and looked at a beautiful house tonight in Gulf Breeze - the rent is only 150 dollars more than here and it is a HOUSE with a HUGE yard, and 3 bedrooms. The man seemed Ok about our dogs, and the whole nine yards. We called the man and left a message that we have a 100 dollars this week to hold if for a week, and could pay him the rest next Friday - so PLEASE cross your fingers and toes, light your candles, pray, and think good thoughts for us! It was being "home" the minute we walked in.

Baby Collin got in the car and said "Let's go get our stuff and bring it here." It's in the same city as Brian's new job, and very close to the beaches and the Gulf. The schools in Gulf Breeze are rated 10 out of 10 - now, i've heard some people say negative things about the schools there - things like the kids there are rich spoiled surfer kids, and they maybe test well, but they're wild. *shrugs* all I can do is give them a try - If it doesn't work, we'll do online school. The schools here in Pensacola are a nightmare with abusive teachers AND bad ratings (3 out of 10).

Viral Missing Link Caught on Film
Wired.com | May 5, 2009 | Wired Science News for Your Neurons
A virus so large and strange that it’s redefined the very concept of a virus has been photographed for the first time. It’s even weirder than expected. The virus was originally discovered infecting amoebas in a Parisian water tower in 1992. It was orders of magnitude bigger than any other virus — so large, in fact, that researchers figured it was a microbe.

It took 11 years for the mimivirus to be officially defined as a virus, though the definition didn’t quite fit. In addition to its enormous size, many of its genes came from bacteria. Some researchers called it a “missing link” that blurred the boundaries between viruses and living cells, between living and dead. Despite all this attention the mimivirus’ physical structure remained a blur. Like other viruses, it was made from DNA surrounded by a protein coat called a capsid, but long fibers on the capsid’s surface made it difficult to see the mimivirus’ underlying structure.

To get a clearer picture, French and American biochemists dissolved mimivirus fibers with enzymes, then used an electron microscope to take thousands of pictures that were eventually combined into a three-dimensional structure. The results, published recently in Public Library of Science Biology, provide further evidence that mimiviruses straddle the boundary between virus and bacteria. Whereas the DNA of other viruses are tightly wrapped, there’s a large gap between the mimivirus genome and its capsid. In some ways, this resembles less the structure of a virus than of a living cell, in which DNA is contained in a nucleus, which in turn floats in cell-wall-enclosed cytoplasm. - Read More -

See?

April 26th, 2009 (01:36 am)

This is total crap, and is completely horrendous, and I don't want to take anything away from the situation to point out my own agenda, but I was JUST telling [info]sageincave about how things are in the south - How nasty and abusive these people are. It doesn't end at the schools, it definantly goes into the medical profession, in fact, i can see just this sort of thing happening to veterans here. It wouldn't surprise me if it was intentional.

people contact HIV and other diseases from unsanitary conditions at the VA hospitals in Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Wow

April 26th, 2009 (01:22 am)

I was just chekcing the TV guide channel to find out of we get Britian's got tallent here anywhere, and saw that Bea Arthur died.

It's always wierd when stars you grew up watching die - you don't know what you're supposed to feel - I meen you don't -really- know them, yet they were such a big part of your life. it's an odd feeling, huh?

I saw "Seven Pounds"

December 20th, 2008 (03:07 am)

Seven Pounds with Will Smith was such a good movie - i highly recomend it!

Warning though - My children were bored during it. It's a movie with a deap story line and deap charactors and if you have a hard time getting that involved with something, then you'll prolly be bored, too. They play it off as it's some sort of mystery or something, but the very first scene of the movie eliminates any secrets the movie may have.

It's been a long time (If ever) though, that i've felt so close to a set of charactors that I laughed with them, and cried for them, and felt haunted by their story - even though I didn't relate to their story in any way, and had never experienced anything even remotely similar... The emotions I felt were all for them, and I think that's an incredible achievement for a movie to pull off.

I'm very much looking foreward to seeing Valkyrie - Count Von Staufenburg is a family relative of mine (Not close, but definitely in the Stauffer tree!) and i'm excited to see the movie for that reason - gonna go on Christmas day when it opens. MGM took it out of the oscar running, and that worries me - don't they think it's good enough? Plus - you know, the nut job is starring in it. LOL
